Kentucky: Smoking Ban Passes House

13 Feb Kentucky: Smoking Ban Passes House

On February 13, House Bill 145, sponsored by Representative Susan Westrom, passed the House of Representatives by a 51 to 46 vote. This misguided legislation would institute a sweeping smoking ban across the Commonwealth, including a prohibition on smoking enclosed public places and enclosed places of employment, and within 15 feet of entrances, exits, operable windows, and ventilation intakes that serve an enclosed area where smoking is prohibited. The bill language that passed the House was amended to protect cigar bars, tobacconists, and private clubs from the smoking ban. The bill will now move to the Senate for further consideration.
