Kentucky: Smoking Ban Dies in Committee

03 Mar Kentucky: Smoking Ban Dies in Committee

House Bill 145, sponsored by Representative Susan Westrom, died in Senate Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection Committee after passing in the House by a vote of 51-46. If passed and enacted, this legislation would have instituted a sweeping smoking ban across the Commonwealth, including a prohibition on smoking enclosed public places and enclosed places of employment, and within 15 feet of entrances, exits, operable windows, and ventilation intakes that serve an enclosed area where smoking is prohibited.

Thank you to all IPCPR members who contacted the Legislature regarding this misguided legislation. Your participation was critical to our success.
