19 Oct FDA Extends Compliance Deadlines for Tobacco Manufacturers and Importers Impacted by Natural Disasters
Earlier this week, FDA announced extension of compliance deadlines for ingredient listing and health document submissions. This applies to tobacco manufacturers and importers in FEMA designated “disaster areas” that have been affected by recent hurricanes or wildfires. A full list of included municipalities and counties can be found on the webpage linked below. The deadline to submit a listing of all ingredients in each tobacco product to the FDA has been extended to November 8, 2018 for small scale manufacturers, which are defined by less than 150 employees and annual revenue of less than $5 million. For non-small-scale manufacturers in these disaster areas, the extended compliance deadline is May 8, 2018. At this time, extensions have only been made for manufacturers. FDA is considering deadline extensions for retailers but have not yet made a determination. We encourage retailers to continue with their compliance schedules until further notice.
