Congressional Letter to Office of Management and Budget Regarding Cigar Regulations

07 Dec Congressional Letter to Office of Management and Budget Regarding Cigar Regulations

Earlier this week, Members of Congress sent a letter to Mick Mulvaney, Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) urging him to exercise oversight of regulations affecting premium cigars. Specifically,  The letter requests Director Mulvaney “to consider an immediate extension of current regulatory deadlines that are burdening premium cigars and an ultimate exclusion for premium cigars from FDA oversight.”  The letter praises the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s issue of an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rule Making (ANPRM) on premium cigars and stresses ongoing Congressional support for regulations that effectively impact and advance the public health.

IPCPR applauds the efforts of Congressman Ross and the letter’s co-signors to stop the devastating impact current regulations have on the industry.  Our association, along with our industry partners, appreciate the continued support from Capitol Hill.
