Arkansas: New Statewide Age Restriction Effective Sept. 1, 2019

28 Mar Arkansas: New Statewide Age Restriction Effective Sept. 1, 2019

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has signed House Bill 1565. This legislation increases the legal age for tobacco products from 18 to 21. This does not include an individual who has turned 19 as of December 31, 2019.

This age increase will go into effect on September 1, 2019.

House Bill 1565 also makes two important changes:

  1. Prevents cities and counties from regulating tobacco more strictly than the state.
  2. Exempts military personnel from the new age restriction.
